Politics, according to today's common people politics means dirty business. Most of the people donot dare to speak about the hook and corner of today's politics instead they speak about the visible facts only. Unlike most of the politicians today in tamil nadu, she was a rare breed.
She was born in 1948 february 24 in mysore district karnataka.. I am not going to explain the whole life story of jayalalitha, But i will take a sneak peek towards hte important events in her life and how she handled it.
She lost her father at the age of 2. Her father was a lawyer. Jayalitha is brahmin from birth. Even though her father was a lawyer, their family was not that much rich. lalitha was her pet name .Lalitha was her home name and jaya was added by her grand father to show his respect and passion towards the king of mysore that time, Jaya chama rajendra vodayar. Her school name was Chomalavalli. Even after the death of her father, she never back down in studies and obtained a scholarship to do higher studies after pre degree.
Her first film was not "chinnada comba", but an english film "epicil". She started her acting career at the age of 16. Her first tamil movie was "vaneera aadaa" in 1965. She is the first actress to wear mini skirt in the history of tamil film industry for the first time.That time, people of tamil nadu were more orthodox than now. Even though they accepted her. The reason for this was her glamour and acting skills.The real jayalatitha we see today was started to form when she began to act with M.G.R. Both of them acted together for 28 films. There was no doubt that this films made them really close.The actual paradox was that at that time jaya was 17 years old and M.G.R was 48 years old.
The rise of political jayalalitha started during 1980's. She become the member of aiadmk along with M.G.R. At that time tamil politics never entertained a women politician. But with her beauty and knowledge, she become the leader of aiadmk's advertisement wing and in 1893, she become the M.L.A from thiruchandoor. In 1894 she become m.p..Most of the people inside party do not like her including wife of M.G.R Janaki ramachandran. After the death of M.G.R, people knew that the next leader of the party was jaya. So politicians from her party itself tried to avoid her,.She was insulted during the death ceremony of M.G.R.
Sucess only come from pain.This fact is true in the case of jaya lalitha. Jaya over comed that insults. In 1989 the opposite party, dmk won the election. At that time jayalalitha over threw janaki ramachandran and become the first woman opposite leader in the history of tamil politics. In this time also she got insulted . she was tried to be molested by the dmk leaders in the legislative assembly itself. No body inside the assembly tried to stop this including the speaker and the chief minister karunanidhi himself. She leave assembly that day with sorrow and openly pledged that she won't the the legislative assembly next time until she became the chief minister of tamil nadu. She completed that pledge in 1991 and become the first woman chief minister in 1991 i the history of tamil politics.
Even though allegations always followed her .There were nothing like that as good or bad publicity.only publicity is there and that helped her a lot among the common people. But in 1996 she and her party lost the election . Dmk again come to power. Jayalalitha was arrested for allegations in corruption and held inside jail.But again in 2001 she got back power and the first thing she done was getting karunanidhi and two other cabinet ministers being arrested. In the same year she lost her minister position due tho courts judgement. But she never losed her control over her co politicians and made o paneer selvam, her puppet to rule in her absense. After that she become the second minister to complete 10 years consecutively as chief minister, from 2006 to 2016 till her death. The reason for this victory were her good activities for the well being of the people and people accepted it. I can surely say that she was the best ruler among all the other states of india.
She started amma canteen in 2014 which provide idli for 1 rupee, thayiru sadam for 3 rupees. sambar sadam for 5 rupees. These canteens are available among more than 1000 places in tamil nadu. In 2013, she started amma drinking water project. She provided 1 litre drinking water for rupees 10 which is available in all Tamil nadu railway stations and bus stations..In 2014 itself she started to give amma baby kit free for the babies born in tamil nadu for free. Can you see any place in india which provide 1 pack cement for rupees 190. Amma also provided that free for poor people. She provided 11 lakh laptops free for students. laptops means not ordinary one. The one with better performance and durability compared to any other state government providing electronic items. Amma pharmacy is a another facilitiy provided by jayalalitha. From this pharmacy you can get the medicines 10% less than the original mrp. These pharrmacies are available in 8 places in tamil nadu like salem, erode etc. Amma call centre is an another idea put forwarded by amma. This call centre will integrate the goverment activities and share it with the common people. Also many people got job because of this. Amma cinema theatres are available in 8 place in tamil nadu which provide tickets for rupees 25.
The reason why she is called amma because of a song sang by her during 1969 in the film "adimay penn". She sang the song by the persuasion of M.G.R. The success of jayalalitha was that she always studied her lessons from her life and updated herself. She was a better human being, with better abilities, with better visions and better ruling techniques, that made her a legend that will echoes through ages.
